Shake, Rattle, n' Roll

Here are two different versions, plus a detail, of a poster assignment I had to do. I did Clue, one of my favorite cult classic films (maybe even films in general) and while I had a lot of fun doing it, I don't know if i love the way it came out. I played around with two different ideas, and the first one works a little bit better I think. Wish I could worked Tim Curry into it. Love that bastard.

This is such a great image! My friends and I used to have this movie memorized, so thisbrings back so many awesome memories.

It is a shame Tim Curry wasn't in there. Maybe you could try doing another, different take on it sometime? Perhaps with the characters standing on a platter being held by a Butler's hand?

Either way, this picture just perfectly encapsulates the mood and dark fun of the film. Very impressive work.

Looks awesome Kevin! I do admit that the lack of Tim Curry is quite sad, but I think you're right to leave him out. The best choices aren't always the easiest...especially when Tim Curry is involved.

I really like this one too. Works great as a poster, you wont have any problems selling prints of this. Personally I like the red one best, though I wish it had the color the other one had in the figures. The figures already have great silhouettes, where the white cut out I think takes away from that. Sorry just had to add my two cents of critique in... "oh yea and where's your poster, dean?"-your probably asking

Linked to this from Slash film today. Hmmmn. Prefer the second poster, which is in keeping with the film's art direction. Mrs. White's very distinctive hairstyle being visible helps considerably to differentiate this as a movie-inspired poster (rather than simply the board game which is what I thought at first, despite being a fan of the film) but, to me, you gotta find a way to get Tim Curry on there. I could see you turning the "l" in "Clue" into a partly open door and he's standing inside. You could also work him into the space between the "C" and the "l" by having him holding a drink's tray that rests in the bowl of the "C".
